The springs in Františkovy Lázně have been famous for their healing powers since the 15th century. The town was founded in 1793 by Emperor Franz I and was the world’s first peat spa. From then on, not only did the water from the springs become popular among local residents, it was also exported to all over Germany. Records even show that in 1700 more water from Františkovy Lázně was sold than in all the spas in Germany. Františkovy Lázně, located at a height of 442 m above sea level in the district of Cheb in the Karlovy Vary region, is one of the cornerstones of the “West Bohemian Spa Triangle”. The spa town retains its charm from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries to this day, with the peace and tranquillity that can be found along the picturesque paths around the landscaped parks. Its unique position close to the border makes Františkovy Lázně not only an important spa treatment centre, but also an attractive tourist destination. The spa specialises in the treatment of heart and blood circulation diseases and musculoskeletal disorders. There are various natural procedures available, including peat baths, peat wraps, carbon gas baths, gas injections and carbon baths, which together help to restore and regenerate patients' health and well-being.

NORDIC WALKING

Nordic Walking is walking with special poles, which increases physical fitness. Up to 600 muscles are engaged when walking, which is about 90% of all the muscles in the body. This type of walking improves the functioning of the heart and blood circulation, strengthens upper body muscles, and is easy on hip and knee joints. Calorie consumption increases by up to 50%. The route is determined by the natural scenery of the park with peat lakes.

ROLLER SKATING

The route leads through the spa park along the micro train route Milan — America with branches to the football field and the Jih (South) car park and the Jadran (Adriatic) automobile campsite. Smooth asphalt, completely flat, the entire way leads through the woods or park under mature trees. It has light traffic (especially in the western part). One end is in the town and the other at a lake (and a mini zoo)
